Mission and brief history

of the organization.

Carmelite College is owned and managed by the Congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of Our Lady based at Fatima Village, Dumaguete City, Philippines. It all started in 2010 with an invitation from Fr. Ramon L. Duran (now Msgr. Ramon L. Duran, PC), the parish priest of St. Vincent Ferrer Parish of Larena, Siquijor, as inspired by the clergy and parishioners, for the Carmelite Sisters of Our Lady to finally serve the youth and provide Catholic education in the tertiary level in the island of Siquijor. The historic visit of the Papal Nuncio His Excellency Edward Joseph Adams and the Bishop of the Diocese of Dumaguete His Excellency John F. Du affirmed the mission response of the Carmelite Sisters of Our Lady to establish the tertiary institution Carmelite College. Then in the Academic Year 2016, we started to open, the Senior High School level.

Success Stories

I, Ana Maria Salac Pastrano, a resident of Canal, Siquijor, Siquijor, come from a simple family with 7 other siblings. I lost my father at an early age; so, my mother was left alone in raising all of us. To help her in her struggles, I took different scholarships for me to finish my studies. It was through Hanzel Jake Ponce that I was introduced to the only Catholic College of Siquijor. I was so blessed to be chosen as a scholar of Fr. Ramon G. Florete. Through his transcendent financial support and generosity of the sisters, I grew up to be a mature individual and have successfully graduated in 2017 as Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in secondary education major in Mathematics. Currently, I am the President of Carmelite College Alumni Association and a faculty of my dear Alma mater.
